Guys recently out of the proverbial nest struggle to feed themselves on a tight budget without meaningful cooking skills.  This article and the ones to follow are the secrets bachelor cooking  passed down from man to man over many generations.

In SGSG #1 http://bit.ly/11FZHi we unveiled the secret of the single guys showcase meal, Spaghetti. This edition is revealing the nuts and bolts of a more down and dirty belly filler, Turbo Grub. Here we go….

Turbo Grub – Fast, Few Dishes, Fills you up

The Bill of Materials:

  • 1 Cup Minute Rice  
  • 2 Tablespoons Margarine
  • 2 Dashes Salt      
  • 2 Dashes Pepper
  • 1 Can (8.5 oz) Sweet Peas
  • 1 Can (6.0 oz) Tuna

Minute Rice -      $4.10/Box or <div class=Margarine ImageSweet Peas ImageTuna Can Image

The Assembly Instructions:

  • Cook Minute Rice in boiling water per instructions on the box.
  • Mix in margarine into cooked rice with a spoon while in sauce pan.
  • Add a dash or two of salt and pepper.
  • Add Sweet Peas (Drain liquid into sink first).
  • Add Tuna (Drain liquid into sink first, then rinse!).
  • Stir together over medium heat on stove for 10 minutes.

The Eating Instructions:

  • Pour something to drink in a cup.
  • Take the stirring spoon and sauce pan of Turbo Grub to living Room (use a pot holder under the pan so you dont burn yourself).
  • Eat  1/2 of the Turbo Grub while looking at TV.
  • Take remaining portion and store in the fridge with plastic wrap covering the top of the pan.
  • Put spoon in sink for washing sometime in the future.
  • To warm up Turbo Grub later you can dump the contents of pan on a plate and warm for 60 seconds in the microwave.

Thats all there is to the Turbo Grub Meal.  This quick and filling dish will cost you maybe $1.85 per serving. You will have maybe 15 minutes of preparation time invested. And, you will only dirty up 2 dishes along the way.  You can not go wrong with Turbo Grub! Enjoy and be sure not to burn yourself on the stove.
